At Long Life Structures our proven track record in continuously achieving below 0.6ach is what really sets us apart from our competitors. Achieving 0.6ach or lower is no easy task. It can take meticulous design detailing and engineering, through to thoughtful execution on site to make it happen. Luckily for you, as you will see in our project images, this is where we excel.
Natural Insulations
Apart from saving our planet, there are so many other reasons, to choose natural insulations over petro-chemical insulations. Without getting to much into it, here a few reasons why:
Natural Insulations have a very high heat storage capacity. This is their capacity to absorb, store and release heat. Insulation foam by contrast has very little heat storage capacity. Insulations with high heat storage are most beneficial during the summer months to help alleviate overheating, a common problem in today’s homes with so much glazing.
Natural Insulations are ideal for timber frame as they are hygroscopic. This is their ability to absorb, store and release moisture, naturally controlling condensation levels within the building and improving internal air quality and thermal comfort.
There is no off gassing from natural insulations which leads to better indoor air quality (IAQ). Off-gassing is the release of chemicals (VOC’s) from both building materials and household contents.
Where most building materials have a ‘carbon footprint’, meaning the amount of embodied energy required to extract raw materials and manufacture products, natural building materials like Cellulose and Woodfibre have a negative carbon footprint due to the carbon absorbed and sequestered within it.
Long Life Structures supply and install Cellulose, Woodfibre and Sheep’s wool insulation on all our projects.
